Knee claims benefit enormously from a physician who will connect a specific mechanism to a specific finding. Generic statements that military service is hard on knees carry little weight. What carries weight is an opinion identifying, for example, that your documented in-service meniscal injury produced the degenerative pattern your current MRI shows, on the side you injured, in the compartment that injury would predictably affect. Bilateral claims often follow: an untreated injury on one side changes how you load the other.
